Abstract

|
This is studied to supply the fundamental contents for dental clinical practice process by researching the experience of dental clinical practice in some dental hygiene students.
The studied objects is that questionnaire based on pre-test asked to the "J" city resident students taking part in dental clinical practice in "J" city for 8 weeks from December 1998 to February 6 1999.
The data on the above process is analyzed by SAS(Statistical Analysis System) to acquire frequency and percentage related to the general and clinical practice relevant matters.
1. The general characteristics of clinical practice spots are that 90.7%(68 places ) have 1 dentist, 57.3%(43 places) have 2 dental hygienists and 12%(9 places)have nursing assistant, 62.7%(47 places) have 3 dental chair, 30.7%(23 places) have the average-daily dental care, of 21-30 people in public medical insurance matters, 89.3%(67 places) claim for payment using computerized process.
2. In possession of dental equipment, 70.7%(53 places) have one X-Ray developing tank,
45.3%(34 places) have Panorama camera, 30.7%(23 places) have two Ultrasonic scaler and 88.0%(66 places) have one High-press vapor sterilizer, 78.7%(59 places) have one Ultra-violet ray sterilizer, 32%(24 places) have one Bead sterilizer, 12.0%(9 places) have one Boiling water sterilizer.
3. In clinical practice experience, observation and equipment sterilizer practice among 25 practice contents go on in all places, the practice for caring assistance is done in 72 places(96.0%).
The other responses have results as Impression taking(77.3%, 58 places), Model making(76.0%, 57 places), X-ray taking(65.3% 49 places), dressing and stitching-out after extraction (57.3% 43 places)
According to the above results, show criteria to make development for dental practice program.
1. Should develop the clinical practice program adapted to grades of clinical practice places. }
2. Make students keep in mind the clinical practice program of the place to practice.
3. Clinical practice place should be extended from dental clinic and hospital to Public Health Center to require the government based support for the future demands like Local Society Oral Hygienist and Elementary School Oral Hygienist.
